💡What about income requirements?💡
This is a need based program, not an income based program. Some families may be right above the income threshold for government assistance and still be struggling. This program recognizes those people and assists ANY family that expresses a need.
💡Cloth diapers? Like burp rags, safety pins, and rubber pants? Isn't that hard? Don't they leak?💡
No. Cloth diapers have changed a lot since your mother or grandmother used them. Some types of cloth diapers are just as quick and easy as a disposable diaper. The only difference is, you throw it in the washer instead of the trash can. They come in all kinds of cute patterns and colors. Cloth diapers fit better then disposables, making blow outs a thing of the past! Most families also report reduction or complete elimination of diaper rashes once they make the switch to cloth diapers.
💡Do you need cloth diaper experience?💡
No, families are taught everything they need to know.
💡Are families required to go to an appointment or in person class?💡
No, instructions are provided by Facebook message or email with info graphics, videos, and articles. Families are also free to ask any questions they have throughout the entire loan period. Families within 7 miles of Downtown Lafayette will have diaper packages delivered right to their residence. Families outside this radius will need to meet at a location in town to receive their package.
💡Will families have to buy hard to find, expensive, cloth diaper specific detergent?💡
No, no, and no. Most detergents available at Walmart, Meijer, etc will work for cloth diapers. Tide, Persil, Foca, and Seventh Generation are all popular options but there are many more options that will work!
💡How do families apply?💡

💡Why not give disposable diapers?💡
A package of disposable diapers may help a family for a week, maybe a month. A package of cloth diapers will provide families in Greater Lafayette with clean diapers for 5-10 years! Not only are cloth diapers more environmentally friendly, they are a more sustainable form of diaper assistance. The costs of running this program are minimal, while the costs of a disposable diaper bank are immense and never ending. Each family is given a full year of peace of mind knowing they will have access to clean diapers. Instead of the constant struggle to get that next package of disposables.
