Health Savings Accounts
Families with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Flex Spending Accounts (FSAs), and Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs) will be happy to know that most programs will reimburse for doula services. Check with your program for details. Sarah has had many clients utilize this benefit without issue. She is happy to provide a service receipt that meets all your plans requirements for reimbursement, upon request.
Major Medical Insurance Plans
Some insurance companies have reimbursed for doula services. Contact your company for more information. Sarah Gotlund does possess a National Provider Identifier(NPI) to provide an official invoice and receipt for families to be able to submit a Health Insurance Claim for reimbursement to insurance. Copy of credentials are provided below. NPI and invoice/receipt can be provided upon request. Be aware that it is not common for insurance to agree to reimburse and it can be a lengthy process. Please be prepared for a denial.
Walmart Employees
Walmart extended its doula coverage pilot program nationwide on November 1, 2023. Employees enrolled in the Premier, Contribution, Saver, or Local medical plan qualify for this doula benefit. Doulas must be certified by DONA International or the National Black Doula Association to be eligible. As a DONA certified doula, Sarah is an accepted provider for this benefit. This means that Walmart employees in qualifying health plans will incur no out-of-pocket costs for her birth services. Walmart's benefit covers her entire birth fee.
TRICARE
TRICARE began a new program to cover birth doula and lactation services on January 1st, 2022. "TRICARE Childbirth and Breastfeeding Support Demonstration" is exclusively for TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select enrollees. This program only accepts providers from 5 doula certifying organizations and 2 lactation certifying organizations. Sarah Gotlund's certifications, trainings, and experience meet or exceed all their strict requirements to be a "TRICARE Certified Provider" for both birth doula and lactation services. Sarah provided all the necessary documentation and forms to TRICARE on February 4th, 2022.
